COMPOSITION Each Capsule Contains
- Diclofenac potassium 50 mg.
PROPERTIES
NSAID.
INDICATION
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, low back pain, ankylosing spondylitis, gout. Acute musculoskeletal disorders, periarthritis (Frozen shoulder) tendonitis, tenosynovitis, bursitis, sprains and dislocations. Painful post-operative conditions. Pain following dental surgery. Painful inflammatory conditions in gynaecology.
DOSAGE
Adults : 100-150 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses. Maintenance therapy: 50-100 mg in divided doses.
Children: Not recommended.
Drug interaction :
- (i) Lithium & Digoxin : Blood levels of lithium and digoxin increased leading to enhanced efficacy and possible toxicity.
- (ii) Diuretics : Inhibits diuretics but efficacy of potassium sparing diuretics enhanced.
- (iii) Methotrexate : Toxicity enhanced.
- (iv) Salicylates : efficacy of salicylates reduced.
- (v) Cyclosporine : Increased nephrotoxicity of both agents.
- (vi) Hydantoins : Increases serum levels resulting in toxicity.
SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea, vomiting, epigastric discomfort, skin rash, peptic ulcer, fluid retention, oedema, impairment of hepatic function rarely.
PRECAUTIONS
Impairment of hepatic, renal or cardiac function, children, blood coagulation disorders. Recent proctitis. GI disorders.
CONTRA-INDICATION
Peptic ulcer, known hypersensitivity to the active substances, acrtyl salicylic acid or other prostaglandin synthetase inhibiting drugs. GI bleeding, active peptic ulcer, NSAID induced allergic asthma.
PHARMACEUTICAL PRECAUTION
Diclofenac potassium Tablets should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place.
